hey there

Hi there,

I know I haven't blogged in two days, I been a little busy with school. That is expected when you go to college I just didn't think I would get so busy so soon after starting.

My history textbook came surprisingly fast so I can start reading the thirty pages that have to be read this week, I've got 28,5 pages to go.
I have some homework problems for my math class, but any competent 13 year old could probably solve all the problems. Not very intense but it has to be done, NO PROCRASTINATION !!!!
I have to buy Lego blocks for Visualization, no I'm not building stuff, well I am but that's not the point, I think we'll be drawing or sketching  it. I would post my sketches but let's just say I don't like charcoal especially when drawing mannequins that look like zombies. Hopefully I'll upload some other art work, if it's decent enough.
Last night I finally had my first Architecture course, we had to draw a 1" x 1" grid  on a 3" x 3" on two papers. You had to make cuts on the lines so that the two papers could  interlock but it still had to be 3" high 3" long and 3" deep. I'll try to upload some pictures so you get a better idea of what I'm talking about. I now have to make 3 more of these by Monday, but it has to be on a 5" x 5" piece.

I hope to scan and/or take some pictures of my projects in the future so you can see what I'm up to and give me some suggestions and/or critique it.
Take care and have a wonderful shabbos, Mo

Word of The Day

My NYIT online account has a box with the Word of The Day. I'm not an English major but I will admit that I enjoy reading what obscure words they can come up with. So why not share it with my followers.

marmoreal / marh-MOR-ee-ul / adjective
: of, relating to, or suggestive of marble or a marble statue especially in coldness or aloofness
Example sentence:
Mary sat silently in the corner of the room, her face expressing nothing but marmoreal calm.

C'mon how many of you have ever heard of "marmoreal" ? I surely have not

Take care, Mo

Day 1

Dear readers,

After spending over $300 in supplies I figured I would at least get to use something I bought.
No such luck, I traveled for an hour and 20 minutes each way to take a placement test for a math class that I already placed in to, go figure! The professor actually tried to explain why, something about not being prepared for the first one ? what?! how can you prepare for a math placement test.....??? If you would study for it wouldn't that defeat the purpose of it. I guess you need a couple of letters after your name to understand that.

The good news is that it sounded like I might place in to the higher math class afterall, which means one less class for me to take. (One class closer to graduation, keeping my eye on the prize)

Yay! my blackboard account finally works. I'm taking Contemporary World History online. I've never taken an online class before but from what I have read in the syllabus it shouldn't be to trying. The syllabus reads the following: "Grading: One third of the final grade will be based on the quality and quantity of your discussion board particapation, and two thirds will be based on two, equally weighted exams"
Oh I nearly forgot to mention that the tests are online too. (lots of evil thoughts entering my head)

Tomorrow I actually start with the part of school that I'm interested in, the architecture part. I'm going to be dragging around with me all those things you see people on the subway holding, and think to yourself, why does he need all that? what in the world is he going to do with it?
I'll be carrying an expandable drawing storage tube, it looks like a handheld rocket launcher but less cool, T-square, huge ruler, little tool box with my drawing equipment and more. I'll need to bring something to eat too as my class starts at 6pm and lasts untill 10:10pm, I know it's insane but that's what happens when you register for classes on the late side.

Anyway, take care and be sure to come back for day 2 of Mo's Arch.

Cheers, Mo

P.S. Feel free to leave a comment!!

blogging?

Hey there,

I have been thinking of gettting my own blog for a while but never really got around to actually set it up.
One of the main reasons for this is because until this past monday I wasn't even sure that I would attend NYIT for architecture. But thanks to the dear wife, who wrote a killer letter to the Economic Appeals Committee, I have received enough scholarships to pay for school.

The other reason is because I'm a serial procrastinater, something that apparently you cannot bring to class at NYIT's School of Architecture and Design.

Anyway, I hope to post some more soon as I still need to do a lot before I start on tuesday (wow that is soon).

Take care, Mo
